How was Static Electricity discovered?

Lots of Ancient Greeks noticted that when some objects were rubbed against each other, some light objects would stick to the cloth. Also, in around 600 BCE a Greek mathematician named Thales discovered that when he rubbed amber with animal fur it would attract light objects (like feathers). The light objects sometimes stuck to the amber. Lots of people had noticed this before, but Thales was the first to record what he found out. After that, lots of scientists found out more about static electricity and this is why we now know a lot of infomation about static electricity.
